The Epilepsy Fund of Western New York is a nonprofit charitable organization established to support the long-term sustainability of epilepsy services throughout Western New York. The Fund provides financial resources that help maintain the facilities and infrastructure used by the Epilepsy Association of Western New York, ensuring that individuals and families affected by epilepsy continue to have access to counseling, education, advocacy, support programs, and other essential services. Through prudent stewardship of its assets, the Fund helps strengthen the Association’s mission and its ability to serve the community for generations to come.

The Epilepsy Fund of Western New York has a long history of supporting epilepsy services in the region through financial stewardship and property management.

The Fund was incorporated in 1966 as a separate 501(c)(3) charitable organization to hold and manage assets that would provide long-term financial stability for epilepsy services in Western New York. It was established several years after the Epilepsy Association of Western New York, which received its tax-exempt status in 1961, allowing the Association to focus on direct services while the Fund focused on preserving and growing charitable assets.

Over the decades, the Fund has:

  • Managed endowment and investment assets to provide long-term financial security.
  • Owned and maintained properties used to support the mission of the Epilepsy Association of Western New York.
  • Generated income through investments and rental properties to help preserve resources for future generations.
  • Operated through a volunteer board of directors, with no paid officers, ensuring that its assets remain dedicated to its charitable purpose.

Today, the Epilepsy Fund of Western New York serves as the financial foundation for the Epilepsy Association of Western New York. While the Association delivers counseling, advocacy, education, support groups, and community programs, the Fund helps ensure those services can continue by safeguarding the organization’s long-term assets and investing in its future.
